Welcome to the first day of Ethos: Encounter. We are excited that you have decided to take this journey with us to go deeper in God's Word. It will take commitment and time, but we know that if you will stick with it, you will begin to see God doing incredible things in you and His Word becoming clearer. Each day will be different, so check back daily!

Day 1
Being Intentional in our Walk with God

Ephesians 5:15-18
"So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life.  Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit."

1. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

- Most of us would agree that we start each day with the intention of doing good.  We genuinely want to make the most of every opportunity, but somewhere between our good intentions and the end of the day we fall short.  Why do you think it's so hard to actually turn our good intentions into action?

2. In order to grow we need to be intentional.

- We have to make a conscious effort to cut out the things that distract us from living for God and focus on the things that will help us to make the most of every opportunity to live the gospel out loud. What is one thing you can cut out (or cut back on) today that will help you focus less on your own priorities and more on God's will for you?

"Most people don't want to pay the price for real intimacy with God. Instead, they just want to get close to someone who has paid the price." -Jeanne Mayo

God, I realize that my relationship with you has to be about more than just good intentions.  I have to make the choice daily to spend time with you, listening to your voice, and living out your will.  Help me to take an honest look at what I need to change in order to be more intentional in my time with you.  I want to know you more, and I want to help others know you.  Speak to me today and show me how.
